New Zealand’s Hidden Treasures

bush1

For the first two 2 weeks of Term 2 we have been learning about our native environment. We had to choose a bird, insect, plant, tree and animal that was native to New Zealand. We then had to carry out our independent research to gather accurate and interesting information. Once we had done that we then made detailed drawings of each and then we drew around the outline in vivid and coloured them in using pastels.

Once we had completed everything we then put them altogether to form our New Zealand Bush scene outside our classroom.

We are really proud of what we have achieved and think it looks awesome!! What do you think? :)

What Makes A Good Teacher?

teacherFor Diary Writing today we were brainstorming what makes a good teacher? Here is some of our ideas about what we think a good teacher should be……

• Keen to pass on their knowledge to their students.
• Uses Habits of Mind like what the students use.
• A teacher that cares about us.
• An educated teacher.
• A teacher who thinks creatively and imaginatively.
• A teacher who listens to other peoples ideas.
• A teacher who wants to learn as well as teaching.
• A teacher who learns from the children.
• A teacher who is understanding and trustworthy.
• A teacher who is faithful.
• A teacher who doesn’t show up his/her students infront of the rest of the class
• A teacher who has lots of patience.

If I could be someone…….

Dear Diary,

If I could be someone else I would want to be my step-mum Ann because
she is talented and a great singer.
She works at the pharmacy because she is smart
and she is also good at maths.
Ann is very pretty and  she comes from the Philippines.
I would really like to be like Ann. I love Ann just like I love my dog Gemma.
Well…… I’ve got to go now!
