REFLECTION – Week 9

This week’s value was Tolerance. This week I showed the value by being reliable by doing what was expected of me.  I also made sensible decisions by completing my tasks on time.

This week I have enjoyed going to Tree Tops because it was challenging.  I felt overjoyed that I was allowed to go.

This week I am most pleased with my handwriting because I am getting better at my slope. I have completed my goal I set for myself last week. My goal for next week is to get better at my slope.

ABOVE THE TREES

On the 31st March the Year Sixes went on a school trip to Tree Tops Adventure to challenge ourselves. Everyone was waiting excitedly to get there on the bus. We were glad when  we were finally there.

When we arrived we saw dirt bike tracks and people doing amazing courses. I really wanted to give it a go. Everyone got of the bus and then walked by the Safety Instructors and they gave us something to put on called a harness. A harness is something that protects you if you fall of the tree.  Its just like a safety belt.

After we put our harnesses on we went to a practice course to see if we could do it properly and we all did it so we went on to course .
It was AWSOME because it was a bit hard and everything wobbled so we had to really concentrate and try hard.

Next I went on course 4. I was absolutely terrified but I never gave up and I passed the course. At the ending there was a GIGANTIC flying fox on to a big pile of sand. It was very challenging.

After we got drowned by sand, we went to course 2. It was long and I got VERY scared so I tried as hard as I could to complete it.

My favourite part of going to Tree Tops was that I did something that I never thought that I could ever do. I really enjoyed doing the HUUUGE flying fox because it was very high.

I think I used the habit of mind Flexibilty in Thinking because I never thought that I could use a harness or climb the tree and was impressed with myself that I managed.

I also think that I used the habit of mind taking responsible risks because I used one carabeana at a time because if you unclipped two you could fall.

After that it was time to go back to school and it was a LONG LONG drive but we finally arrived. Tree Tops was the most exiting trip ever!!

TREES OF DOOM

On Monday 31st March Room 21 and Room 20 went to Tree Tops Adventure for our Term 1 school trip.  We got there at 10 am.  It took us nearly an hour to get there.  We all got there on the bus.

First we all got our harnesses on and we were shown how to use our pulleys for the flying fox.  The pulleys were for the blue life lines and the karabeaners were for the red life lines.

All of Room 21 went on Course 1, Course 2, Course 3 and Course 4 but I got to go on to Course 5 but don’t tell anyone!!  DO NOT TELL MISS ADAMSON!!

Each course had all kinds of obstacles like the Tarzan Swing, flying fox, tight rope,, vertigo swing, the log of doom and the criss cross bridge.

At the end of the day I was unhappy because I didn’t get to go on to Course 6,7 & 8.  I bet the would have been good fun. I am going to go back to Tree Tops Adventure in the holidays with my Mum and my Grandad because it is such good fun.

Tree Tops Fun Adventure

On Monday 31st of March 2008 the Year Sixes went to Tree Tops which was past Kumeo on Highway 16 in Wilson’s Forests. We got there in a bus. It took us an hour to get there. My buddy was Himanshu.

After a long hour we arrived at Tree Tops Adventure. When I got out of the bus I was very scared because I thought we were going to do all of the ten courses but we WERE only doing four courses.

We had to put on our special gear which were called harness then we went to get safety cheek. The first course was the practice course. It was very easy. We had to use two karabiners on our safety belt plus wear a helmet too. The helmet was very hard.

My favourite course was course one. It was kind of scary. After climbing all of those tree’s I got tired so I went to eat my lunch. I only did three courses. I had so fun. We stayed there for about three hours then Room 21 and Room 25 had to go back on to the bus and return to school.

When we got back to school I felt really tired and glad because I had so much fun. I would really like to go back again some day.
